Local students are state and division winners in the Junior American Citizens Contest
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution sponsors Junior American Citizens, an organization founded to encourage patriotism and teach children about government and good citizenship.At the annual state conference in Salt Lake City, the following state winners sponsored by the Uintah Chapter were honored:
Lisa Hoyt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hoyt, first place, Grade 1, individual, for the banner and poster she submitted. Her brother, Timothy, received first place, Grade 3, individual for his poster and poem. Their school, James Moss Elementary, also won first place for its Student Council Project.
Following the state conference it was learned that Lisa won first place with her banner in the Southwestern Division, second for her poster, with Timothy winning first place for his poster and first place for his in creative writing for his poem.
James Moss Elementary School won first place in the Southwestern Division for its service project. The first place entries will be judged in the national competition.
