The Utah Division of Parks and Recreation recently presented awards to 12 state employees, three state legislators and two television journalists for "outstanding dedication, loyalty and personal contribution" to the state agency.

Recipients of the Director's Award of Merit were Sen. John P. Holmgren, R-Bear River City; Rep. Donald R. LeBaron, R-Highland; Rep. Daniel H. Tuttle, D-West Valley City; Al Clayburn, manager of Deer Creek State Park; Ron Eberling, Utah Department of Transportation; Bert Florek, manager, Willard Bay State Park; Larry Griffone, Utah Department of Natural Resources program analyst; and Jerry Hover, associate director, Parks and Recreation Division.Doug Miller of KSL-TV and Reece Stein, KUTV, were presented Media of the Year awards.

Seven employees of the Parks and Recreation Division were honored for outstanding service. Mike McConvill, reservation manager, was presented the James D. Moyle award, given annually to the division's outstanding employee; Dee Guess, administrative secretary, Outstanding Clerical Employee of the Year; Ken Holford, curator at Iron Mission State Park, Outstanding Program Staff award; Ron Horton, park ranger at Pineview Reservoir, Outstanding Ranger of the Year; Ron Hunsaker, a mechanic, Outstanding Maintenance Employee of the Year; Max Jensen, eastern region manager, Outstanding Administrator of the Year; and Blaine Luke, manager of Green River and Goblin Valley State Parks, Superintendent of the Year.
