Carlos Montalban, a movie actor for four decades who appeared in such diverse films as the 1933 musical "Flying Down to Rio" and Woody Allen's 1971 comedy "Bananas," died at 87.

Montalban, the brother of actor Ricardo Montalban and a native of Spain, died at his Manhattan home Tuesday.His numerous film appearances included a role in the 1956 movie "The Harder They Fall."

Montalban also was known in the United States for his appearances in television commercials in the 1960s and '70s.
