After completing its first year in Salt Lake City, Carl Thompson Associates, 102 W. 500 South, an investor relations firm based in Colorado, has grown to five employees, 14 clients and more than $500,000 in revenue, about one-third of the firm's total revenue of $1.6 million in 1990.
Shirley Jemison, senior vice president and co-founder of Carl Thompson, opened the branch office a year ago and has been acting general manager. "We are pleased with our rapid growth in the midst of a difficult economy, which is primarily due to a void of high-quality investor relations firms between Los Angeles and Chicago, particularly in Utah," she said."While it is important for Utah companies to be known in their own back yard, much of our focus is on elevating awareness nationally. Publicly held Utah companies often are overlooked by national investment firms and media merely because they are in Utah," Jemison said.
Clients handled from the Salt Lake office of Carl Thompson are JB's Restaurants Inc.; EFI Electronics Corp.; Gull Laboratories; Mining Services International; Rocky Mountain Helicopters; Prime Telecommunications; Trace Minerals; Sierra Pacific Resources; Shopsmith; United Tote Inc.; Mountain Medical Equipment; and Falcon Products.
