US WEST Communications customers in Boise who wanted more liberal access to line-blocking services during the company's six-month trial of its Caller ID service won't get any help from the Idaho Public Utilities Commission.

Caller ID allows the party being called to see the telephone number from which the call is being placed before answering. In an order released Monday, the IPUC ruled that Idaho's Telecommunications Act of 1988 does not give the commission jurisdiction over such services.
