The annual Quey Hebrew Memorial Lecture will feature Lehi Hintze, a professor emeritus of geology at Brigham Young University, speaking Thursday at 7 p.m.
The "Earthquake Risk Along the Wasatch Fault" will be his topic in 2254 Harman Conference Center, Room 2254. The public is welcome. Hintze has followed earthquake activity in Utah ever since the Hansel Valley Earthquake in 1972.He has done extensive stratigraphic work and has published many maps of geological quadrangles in western Utah in a cooperative program with BYU, the Utah Geological and Mineral Survey and the U.S. Geological Survey.
Hintze is the author of the 1980 Geologic Map of Utah and of a revised edition of the map. He has written many geological papers and has co-written a textbook on historical geology.
