Lynn Callister, instructor in the College of Nursing at Brigham Young University, will speak at the Women's Research Institute's Brown Bag Luncheon Tuesday at noon.

"Child Birth: Cultural Meanings" is the title of her address to be given in Room 376 Wilkinson Center. The public is invited.Callister interviewed LDS women who had recently given birth to discover the cultural meanings they attached to their childbirth experience. She presented her research at the American Society for Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynecology in Houston, where it was distinguished as a prize-winning study.

Callister is pursuing comparative studies on cultural meanings of childbirth with samples of women of various populations such as Orthodox Jews in Montreal, blacks in Georgia and women undergoing certified midwife deliveries. She is a doctoral candidate at the University of Utah and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, an honor society for nursing.
