Public TV and radio stations, the Bureau of Land Management, Moab area businesses and other groups are planning a cleanup of trash-strewn camping areas in Kane Creek Canyon near Moab.
The environmental improvement effort is scheduled for all day Saturday, April 13. It begins with a tour of ancient rock art, then an afternoon of working to improve the public lands. In the evening, a free barbecue will be held for the volunteers."Volunteers should bring work clothes, work gloves, sun screen, insect repellant, sun hat, sturdy footwear and at least two quarts of drinking water," said Mary Dickson, spokeswoman for Operation Earth.
Volunteers should also bring their own table service and cups for the barbecue. Those who go are requested to pre-register by April 5.
More information and registration forms are available by calling Heidi DeWitt at KUER, 581-6625, or Russ von Koch at the BLM office in Moab, 259-6111.
