Former beach-blanket teen stars Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello are hoping to catch a wave of nostalgia with a television situation comedy.

The pair guest-starred last week on the episode of ABC's "Full House." One of the stars of that show, David Coulier, played an actor who flies to Hollywood to try out for "Surf's Up," a series pilot about a beachfront 1950s diner run by Avalon and Funicello.Avalon told TV Guide magazine that there's talk of turning the make-believe pilot into a real one.
