Six Salt Lake firms have received the city's 1990 Environmental Compliance Awards.
The awards, presented by Mayor Palmer DePaulis, recognized the firms' continuous compliance with federal, state and city industrial discharge rules. The city will plant a tree for each of the firms recognized through TreeUtah.The recipients are Ameritech Coatings; Anodozing & Metal Coatings Inc; Blanchard Metals; Great Western Chemical; Roadway Express and Litton Systems Inc.
To be eligible for the award, industries must meet or better their industrial discharge limits.
The firms also were judged on how they assist the city's Department of Public Utilities in monitoring their discharges and steps taken to protect the environment.
