Robert L. Shepherd, 81, prominent Utah artist, died at his residence in Santa Clara, Friday afternoon, March 29, 1991, following an 8 month illness.

Born June 18, 1909 in Salt Lake City, to Joseph and Ellen Brighton Shepherd. He married Olive Fuller, June 21, 1932 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Reared and educated in Salt Lake City, he attended the University of Utah and University of California, Berkley. Moved to Los Angeles in 1953. He retired from Heinsbergen Decorating Co. in 1972 and selected Santa Clara, Utah as his home. For 18 years he has served all men to the best of his ability, asking nothing in return. An active member of the LDS Church, he had served as Bishop and in many other capacities.He is survived by his wife, of Santa Clara; a son, Larry Shepherd, of Santa Clara; daughter, Mrs. Sandra Weaver, of St. George; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 2, 1991, 10 a.m. in the Santa Clara Stake Center on Santa Clara Heights. Friends may call at Metcalf Mortuary, Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. and at the stake center on Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30. Interment will be in the Wasatch Lawn Cemetery in Salt Lake on Wednesday, April 3, 1991 at 10 a.m.
