Mildred Coulam Francis, age 88, died Thursday, March 28, 1991 at the home of her daughter in California.
Born August 30, 1902 in Salt Lake City, to Joseph and Anna Marie Hansen Coulam. Married Charles Turner Francis, June 10, 1931 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died June 5, 1952. Graduated from West High School Business Course with high honors, being in the top 10 of the class. Attended the University of Utah for 2 years, working her way through school, doing stenographic work for many professors. Before her marriage, she was employed at the Salt Lake City Board of Education and the Bureau of Mines. Served as secretary of Sunday School, counselor of the YWMIA, teacher in the Primary of the 11th Ward in Salt Lake. Member of the Morgan LDS 6th Ward. She served as President of the Morgan Ward Relief Society, counselor in the Morgan Stake Relief Society Presidency. Served in the Sunday School and Primary organizations. Ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple for over seven years. Member of the Morgan Camp Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.Survived by four daughters, Mrs. Don (Charlene) Lawrence, Salt Lake; Mrs. Fred (Lucille) Ulrich, Ogden; Mrs. Samuel (JoAnne) Thackeray, Fort Jones, Calif.; Gloria Francis, Morgan; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, and one brother, Mrs. Arthur (Virginia) Phippen, Joseph Coulam Jr., both Salt Lake. Preceded in death by three sisters, one brother.
Funeral services, Tuesday, 1 p.m. in the Morgan Stake Chapel, with Bishop Wendell Rose officiating. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p m. Interment, South Morgan Cemetery.
