Ruth Scorup Clegg, 82, died March 27, 1991 at her home, of causes incident to age.
Born June 9, 1908 in Salina to James Halvor and Elmina Humphrey Scorup. Married Joseph Heber Clegg February 10, 1931, Manti LDS Temple; he died January 18, 1981. Educated in Salina schools, graduating from North Sevier High School. Attended BYU, then served a mission to the New England States and Canada. She has lived in Salina, Vineyard and Provo, Utah. Active LDS Church, serving in the Relief Society, and over 50 years in the Primary. Worked with Guide Patrol and Scouting. Was known for her love and devotion to her family and friends, and her enthusiasm for life. She enjoyed handwork and gardening and was well known for her cooking.Survived by two sons and four daughters, all of whom graduated from BYU, Wildon J. Clegg, Seattle, Washington; J. Halvor Clegg, Mrs. David (DaLee) James, both of Orem; Arla J. Clegg, Provo; Mrs. Clayton (Jolene) Peterson, Layton; Mrs. Darrel (LeAnn) Rushton, South Jordan; 31 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Edith S. Clinger, Lakeview. Preceded in death by a brother and sister, James M. Scorup and Ellen S. Frandsen.
Funeral services Saturday, 11 a.m. Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center, where friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. or Saturday, one hour prior to service. Interment: Provo City Cemetery.
