Joseph Franklin Preece, 71, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 1991 following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born November 24, 1919 in Farmington, Utah, a son of Perry and Myrtle Jordan Preece. He married Norma Buhler July 26, 1946 in Kaysville, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was reared and educated in Farmington, Utah, attended Farmington public schools and graduated from Davis High School. He also attended Weber State University. He had lived in Washington and Montana prior to moving to Kaysville where he has resided the past 37 years.He worked as a logistics specialist at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1977 after 36 years of service. he was also employed with the Fabric Shop for 13 years. He was an active member of the Kaysville 8th LDS Ward, currently serving as a High Priest. He served in many positions including scouting, secretary in the Young Mens Mutual, ward clerk, High Priest group instructor, home teacher, stake communications director and stake missionary.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, golfing, horses, traveling and radio controlled airplanes. He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army.
Survived by his wife of Kaysville; one son and one daughter, Dr. Terry J. and wife Debbie Preece, Layton; Shannette and husband Paul Keeler, Brigham City; five grandchildren, Jenekah, Brandon and Taryn Preece, Layton; Jolon and Brooke Keeler, Brigham City; and one brother, Perry Preece, West Valley City. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald B. Preece and two sisters, Laura Cheney and Florence Preece.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m., at the Kaysville LDS Rock Chapel, 25 South 200 East. Friends may call Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, and Saturday, at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
