State licensing regulators have dismissed a petition against a licensed Salt Lake contractor accused of operating an unlicensed roofing company, documents said.

The state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing filed petitions last summer against Dennis Paul Gines and Stanley Jepson, saying the pair's company, Diamond Roof Service, was not licensed to do contracting. The order of dismissal said Jepson had entered into an agreement with the division to settle his petition and has paid a $500 fine but that Gines has been fully licensed with the state as a contractor for some time.

"(The state) believes that the issues of the petition have now been dealt with and it would be in the best interest of all concerned, including the division, to end this matter and dismiss the petition as it applies to Mr. Gines," the order said.
