The city of Corrine and three Box Elder County residents have agreed to clean up portions of the Bear River filled with junk, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court.

The consent decree was signed by the city and residents C.R. Clark, Robert Gilbert and Marie Trippodi, owners of the property adjacent to where the junk was found. The decree accompanied a complaint filed by the U.S. attorney's office following an investigation into alleged violations of the U.S. Clean Water Act by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The decree said the land extends along about 2,400 linear feet of the riverbank west of Brigham City.

It said the city and residents met with the EPA and agreed to remove the material, which included car bodies, asphalt, household appliances, concrete slabs and construction materials.
