A seventh inning five-run rally lifted BYU to a 5-1 victory over Oregon State Thursday in the Riverside Baseball Invitational.

The Cougars, who stranded nine runners with their quicker lineup, capitalized on a two-run single by Chris Cooper, a double by Brian Simpson and a hit and run execution by Jeff Howes and Brent Turley in that inning.Rob Jensen was credited with the win in relief to improve his record to 4-3, while Jeff Smith took his first loss in four decisions. BYU reliever Ryan Hancock pitched the final inning and lowered his earned run average from 1.63 to 1.50.
