Harry West Sundwall, age 79, of Tempe,

Arizona, died March 23, 1991 in Tempe.Born March 27, 1912 in Fairview, Utah. A life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Sundwall held various church positions throughout his life; he served on the High Council of the first Tempe Stake. He was much lvoed in both religious and academic circles.

Mr. Sundwall, a well-known educator, taught at Brigham Young University, the University of Utah, the University of California, Berkeley and Michigan State University before going to Arizona in 1962. After moving to Arizona, he became Professor of Education at Arizona State University. At ASU, he served as Assistant Dean of the College of Education and as Director of Indian Education. He was a member of several professional and learned societies.

He is survived by his wife, Dearwyn Sardoni Sundwall, Tempe, Arizona; son, H. McKay Sundwall, Greenville, North Carolina; daughter, Marjorie S. Davis, Tempe, Arizona; one brother, C. Arthur Sundwall, Provo; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday, 5 p.m., March 27, 1991 at the Tempe Stake Center, College and Alameda, Tempe, Arizona. Friends may call at the Tempe Mortuary, 405 East Southern Avenue, on Tuesday evening from 7-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the Church. Burial: City of Mesa Cemetery.
