Geri Thompson Mariani, 61, died Thursday in her Salt Lake home from cardiac arrest.

Mrs. Mariani was currently serving as vice president of the Town Club and was a member of the Junior League of Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Country Club and Alta Club. A patron of the arts, she served as president of the Board of Young Audiences, Mu Phi Epsilon, and National Youth Music Federation. She was also a well-known vocalist.She was born Feb. 19, 1930, in Brigham City. She graduated from Box Elder High School and the University of Utah. While studying at the U., she was affiliated with Kappa Kappa Gamma. She married Ernest D. Mariani, Sept. 8, 1950, in Brigham City.

Mrs. Mariani is survived by her husband; children, Michael and Lynne Zimmerman, Leigh and Joel VandenAkker, and Marc and Michelle Mariani; nine grandchildren; mother, La Von Stayner Thompson; sister, Sharon Thompson Ward; and brother Stayner L. Thompson.

Memorial services are scheduledTuesday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 S. 2300 East. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South.
