The Green Bay Packers Saturday signed Plan B free agent quarterback Mike Tomczak, who was bumped from the No. 1 job with the Chicago Bears last season. Terms were not disclosed.

Tomczak, 28, will be entering his seventh pro season. He started 11 of 16 games in 1989 but lost the starting job to Jim Harbaugh last season. Ironically, before the '90 season began, Tomczak said he thought Bears Coach Mike Ditka should commit to one quarterback for the season to establish some stability. Ditka did, but it wasn't Tomczak.
