In the midst of a California rain storm, the BYU men's golf team finished eighth in the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas won the three day tournament which ended Wednesday posting a score of 879. UNLV was just able to edge Tulsa which finished at 882. Oregon was 11 shots off the lead at 890.BYU's top golfers were Joe Summerhays and Ramon Brobio who tied for 20th place at 225.

Other BYU scores were Mike Weir at 226, Ryan Rhees at 229 and John Johnson at 234.
