The Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University has declared Robert Goldberg, associate professor of history at the University of Utah, winner of the 1991 Summer Research Competition.
Goldberg has until Sept. 10, 1991, to complete a study of former Arizona Sen. Barry Goldwater. The Redd Center awarded him $2,900 for research to be conducted this summer.The summer fellowship is designed to support research in the study of some aspect of change in the Mountain West during the late 19th or 20th century.
Applicants must be qualified to do research in a discipline from the humanities or the social-behavioral sciences. The research should be designed to show the impact of change on all or a selected group of people in the Mountain West.
Goldberg is expected to submit a one-page report of his research findings to the Redd Center for inclusion in the annual report.
