Bruce Free Baird, age 56, died March 22, 1991.
Born January 6, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Clarence and Afton Free Baird. He married Gloria Symes on April 30, 1959 in Salt Lake City. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering, University of Utah, 1956; M.B.A., Harvard University, 1958 and Ph.D., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1967. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. He is the Head, Department of Sociology, and also Acting Dean, College of Business, University of Utah.He received the outstanding Graduate Professor Award, 1985 and the University Distinguished Teacher Award, 1988, University of Utah. He was the author of numerous publications and had extensive consulting experience. Currently Professor of Management, University of Utah, College of Business and Graduate School of Business. Member of LDS Church. President of Utah Diabetes Association.
He was very proud of his Scottish heritage.
Survived by his wife, Gloria, two sons and one daughter, Bradley Clarence and wife Irina, Tucson, Arizona; David Bruce; Lisa Marie and husband Robert Cummins, both Salt Lake City; one grandson, William Bruce, two sisters, Dorothy Bradley and Marjorie Morgan, both Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Wednesday, March 27,1991 at the Mt. Olympus 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 3862 E. Oakview Drive, 4275 South. Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So. Highland Drive on Tuesday evening from 6-8:30 p.m. and at the Church on Wednesday from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Utah Chapter of the American Diabetes Association in his memory, 643 E. 400 So., SLC., UT 84102
