John H `Jack' Thackeray, 67, died Friday, March 22, 1991 in Morgan.
Born May 4, 1923 in Morgan, son of Howard Alma and Florence Adams Thackeray. Married Deane Morby May 18, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho; solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple July 2, 1988. High Priest, LDS Church, Morgan 4th Ward, where he was a home teacher and temple worker. Graduated from Morgan High School and was in the mink, industry for 37 years. He was also a cattle rancher and raised registered Quarter Horses. He served on the Morgan City Council, on the North Morgan Water Association, and was Water Master for 35 years. He was an honorary charter member of the FFA, and was chosen as Outstanding Farmer-Cooperator in 1989. He was an avid supporter of the Junior Livestock Sale, was presently serving as a director on the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District.Survived by wife, Morgan; one son and three daughters, David and (Patricia) Wilbert, Riverdale; Dennis and (Sheila) Woolsey; Lowell and (Christine) Murdock; John and Laurie Thackeray, all of Morgan; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers and four sisters, Milton G. Thackary, Salt Lake City; B.L. Dahlquist, Ogden; Helen Stevenson, Salt Lake City; Mary Bowen, Ogden; Dorothy Brown, Roy; Florence Wallace, Sunset. Preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 1 p.m., in the Morgan Stake Chapel. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Monday, from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment, North Morgan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Morgan 4th Ward Missionary Fund, or the Jr. Livestock Sale.
