Orem has a new postmaster. He's Wally Adams, former postmaster of Pleasant Grove and an employee of the Postal Service for 27 years.
"I'm looking forward to the challenges of a larger office in the city where I reside," Adams said. He managed 20 employees in the Pleasant Grove office and will supervise 84 in Orem.Adams, 50, started his postal career as a mail distribution clerk in Salt Lake City. He was promoted to a mail processing supervisor in June of 1974. Since since then, he has been automation coordinator in engineering, acting manager of employee services.
He has been the acting postmaster of St. George and most recently the acting postmaster of Provo.
While the postal service seeks out a new postmaster for Pleasant Grove, Garth Goates, a station manager in Salt Lake City, will be acting postmaster. Goates said between 60 and 90 days will be needed to to select the new Pleasant Grove postmaster.
Adams replaces Clyde Weeks, who retired in November.
