But the abducted houseguest also ended up in jail. The Kearns man told Salt Lake County deputy sheriffs that three people he did not know followed him home from work Monday morning. The three followed him into his house uninvited and began yelling, demanding to know where the houseguest was.
One of the three men said he was a detective with the sheriff's office. He then grabbed and handcuffed the houseguest, a 28-year-old man. The two other men grabbed a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl who were in the house and left, a sheriff's report states.
The Kansas man and the 28-year-old man were later located at the Salt Lake airport. Deputies arrested both men and booked them into jail.
The 28-year-old man was listed on a warrant from Missouri. He is from Kansas City and had been living in Kearns for about two weeks. The Kansas man told investigators the person he abducted was his nephew and he was taking him back to Missouri to take care of the warrant and turn himself in.
The two girls were located at a motel and taken to juvenile detention. Both are runaways from Missouri.
