An 18 year-old Provo man has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of negligent homicide, a class A misdemeanor, in the July 7 death of a passenger who was riding in his car.
Patrick H. Newton originally was charged with manslaughter, a second-degree felony, in the death of 18 year-old Julianna Crosby. He will be sentenced Sept. 22 in Orem Circuit Court.
Newton, Crosby and another passenger were driving up Provo Canyon Road when Newton's car flipped into the river. Newton and the second passenger survived the accident, but Crosby drowned after being pinned underwater.
