A Salt Lake Police Department sergeant writing a citation to a driver pulled over on I-15 suffered minor injuries Tuesday night when a delivery truck smashed into her car, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The officer, Sgt. Joleen Wayment, was treated at Holy Cross Hospital and discharged, according to UHP.Wayment pulled a vehicle over at I-15 near Cudahy Lane in Woods Cross about 11 p.m. to write out a citation, UHP reported. A northbound delivery truck driven by Leslie D. Muir, 31, Sunset, struck the rear of Wayment's police car and pushed it into the vehicle stopped in front of it, driven by Troy I. Gortat, 25, Centerville.

All three vehicles suffered extensive damage, according to UHP trooper Todd Peterson, who investigated the accident. Only Wayment was injured, however.

Muir was issued a citation for reckless driving, Peterson said.
