The Salt Lake County Library System expects to take possession of the new Sandy Library building from general contractors Brodrick & Howell by Friday.

The move marks the beginning of a complicated process that will see the old Peterson Library, 9340 S. 700 East, closed and the new Sandy Library, 10100 Petunia Way (10075 South) opened.The new library will house 125,000 books, periodicals and audio visual materials being transferred from the Peterson Library. Officials hope to have the Peterson Library closed by mid-May. A grand opening for the new Sandy Library has been tentatively set for June 15.

During the move, the county will provide bookmobile service in the Peterson Library parking lot.
