An Israeli court has extended the detention of an Israeli-American couple wanted by the United States in the 1981 letter-bomb slaying of a California woman.

American investigators also have tried to establish whether Rochelle and Robert Manning are linked to the 1985 letter-bomb death of Alex Odeh, the Los Angeles regional director of the Arab American Anti-Defamation Committee. The Mannings were active in the militant Jewish Defense League in the United States before immigrating to Israel in 1985.

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court Tuesday ordered the Mannings, who were arrested Sunday by Israeli police, to be held for another 15 days pending their extradition to the United States.
