Merrill LeRoy DeSpain, 55, of Logan, died Wednesday, March 20, 1991, in the Logan Hospital after a short illness.

He was born on November 10, 1935, in Springville, the son of LeRoy and Madeline Mooney DeSpain. He married June Hedge; they were later divorced. He married Lynda Costello; they were later divorced. He attended schools in Springville, Salem, and Spanish Fork. He graduated form Spanish Fork High School and Utah State University. He worked for the Forest Service for a short time, and then for the Bureau of Land Management as a district manager, and has lived in Utah, Idaho, California, Colorado, Washington D.C., and Nevada. He was a member of the Rotary Club in Ely, Nevada. He enjoyed the out-of-doors, tennis, and horses.Survivors include: His mother, Madeline Cushing, Salt Lake City; his father and stepmother, Roy and Maida Warren DeSpain, Salem; two daughters, Shawn DeSpain, Longmont, Colorado; Melanie DeSpain, Littleton, Colorado; one grandchild, Hailey; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Larry (Arlene) Wilson, Logan; Jalene McCloy, Salem; Gary DeSpain, Boulder Colorado; two stepbrothers, Shirl Beddoes, Springlake; Joe Beddoes, Spanish Fork.

Funeral services will be Saturday, at 2 p.m., in the Walker Mortuary, 187 So. Main, Spanish Fork. Friends may call at the mortuary on Saturday, one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
