Sterling Ronald McKell, 60, of Orem, died Wednesday March 20, 1991 at his home in Orem.
He was born Feb. 16, 1931 in Spanish Fork, a son of Ronald and Sylvia Christensen McKell. He married Lorna Peterson, Aug. 15, 1958 in Santaquin; later divorced. He attended schools in Spanish Fork and graduated from BYU with a degree in Chemistry. After his graduation he attended the Jet Fighter School in Loredo, Texas as a member of the National Guard. He served in the National Guard until 1989 when he retired as a Full Colonel. He worked for Hercules Inc. for 28 years as a safety engineer and has lived in Orem the past 29 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Provo. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Survivors include one son and two daughters, Rick A. McKell, and Mrs. Talt L. (Kelly) Thompson, both of Orem; Mrs. Carey (Tracy) Olsen, Lindon; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. June Darby, Palo Alto, Calif.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Suncrest 6th Ward Chapel, 889 West 130 North, Orem. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Spanish Fork, 187 So. Main, Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday at the ward chapel one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery where military rites will be accorded him by the American Legion post #68, Spanish Fork.
