This week Brigham Young University celebrates its annual Lamanite Week in honor of those of Latin American, Polynesian and North American Indian descent.

According to Carol Yager, from BYU's Student Service Association, the celebration is designed to allow students and the community to learn about the culture.Lamanite Week runs Tuesday through Saturday and will include an address by Elder Angel Abrea, a member of the First Quorum of Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who is Latin American.

Each day of the week will highlight a different culture.

Tuesday features the Latin American culture; on Wednesday, the Polynesians will be spotlighted; and Thursday and Friday will feature the North American Indian cultures.
