Dr. Michael M. Hess, Bountiful, has been inducted as a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Hess was one of 675 new fellows and two associate members inducted into the society, which now numbers 15,600 fellows.To qualify for the medical association for musculoskeletal specialists, members have completed five years of specialty study in an accredited residency program after medical school. In addition, they passed a comprehensive and written examination and been certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Orthopedics is the branch of medicine concerned with diagnosis, care and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, including bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons.
