The rap group 2 Live Crew asked a federal appeals court Monday to reverse a ruling that their work is obscene, saying there's more to their album "As Nasty As They Wanna Be" than nastiness.

"This is not the Pulitzer Prize for poetry. This is music we're talking about," said Bruce Rogow, 2 Live Crew's attorney, arguing before a three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta. The group is appealing last June's ruling that declared "As Nasty As They Wanna Be" obscene.
