If you're between the ages of 10 and 16 and just can't get enough of the Utah Jazz, read on.
It would also help if you have a secret ambition to be a sports writer because the Deseret News and Utah Jazz are offering one lucky young person the opportunity to cover the Jazz when Utah squares off against the Denver Nuggets on April 13.The grand prize for this year's contest includes the following: The winner and his/her parents come to the game on April 13. They will attend the pre-game dinner in the press room and the winner will appear on Jazz Talk with Dave Blackwell and Ron Boone; the winner will meet a Jazz player and have his picture taken with him.
The winner will sit on press row with Deseret News Jazz writer Brad Rock while his/her parents receive courtside seats. After the game, the winner may receive a pass to attend post-game interviews as he prepares his story that will appear in the next day's Deseret News along with Brad Rock's account of the game.
Ten second place winners will receive a pair of L.A. Gear basketball shoes while twenty-five third place winners receive a Deseret News Sports Page T-shirt.
Finally, 100 fourth place winners will receive a John Stockton poster.
According to the official rules, the contest is open to boys and girls age 10 through 16. They must write an essay, poem or story in 25 words or less telling the judges why the Deseret News has the best Jazz coverage.
Only one entry per person is allowed and they must be received at the Deseret News by 5 p.m. on April 9. Employees of the Deseret News, the Utah Jazz, the Newspaper Agency Corp. and associated sponsors and their immediate families are not eligible.
Winners will be announced in the April 13 Deseret News.
The entries must be legible and include the entrant's name, address, age and phone number. The parent's names are required as well.
