Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, might have thought his eyes were playing tricks on him now that he's a year older. But that bottle of steak sauce really did say "Hatch 57" instead of "Heinz 57."

Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., passed that bottle to Hatch on Friday during a regular business lunch in honor of Hatch's 57th birthday. And to show that Republicans also agree that business lunches don't have to be all work, Republican Labor Secretary Lynn Martin also presented Hatch with a birthday cake.

Kennedy - who is Hatch's political nemesis but a good personal friend - also gave Hatch something at the lunch he has wanted for a long time: a painting by Kennedy himself of a Massachusetts seascape.

During a Deseret News interview of Hatch and Kennedy last year, Hatch begged Kennedy for such a painting - but Kennedy said he would refuse until Hatch voted "correctly" on labor issues. That led Hatch to believe he would never own one.
