After four months of play, Utah Amateur Hockey's state high school championships finally get under way this weekend.

Six teams will vie for the the state AAA title: Brighton, Murray, Cottonwood, East, Highland and Viewmont. Brighton will be the team to beat, with Todd Nate and defenseman Brett Moore carrying the offensive load. Murray may be able to give Brighton all it can handle, however, with All-State second-team center Jeremy Miller and Jon Kikel hoping for another shot at the Bengals. The two teams tied in the regular season. Games begin Wednesday at Bountiful, with a 9:15 p.m. match between Highland and Cottonwood. The AAA title game will be Monday, April 11 at Cottonwood Heights.

Eight teams with records below .500 will compete for the AA title: Davis, Clearfield, Judge, Olympus, Alta, Taylorsville, Bountiful, Hillcrest. Davis, with the offensive threat of Paul Anderson and Ryan Barton, could sweep the playoffs. Still, they face a major challenge from Judge. Freshman Jeremiah Johnston and Jason Furness are the top scorers for Judge, which beat Davis during the regular season.

The AA final is scheduled for Monday, April 4 at Cottonwood Heights.
