Utah State's gymnastics team closed out its regular season with its highest score of the season and second-highest in school history Saturday night when the eighth-ranked Aggies rode 1-2 all-around finishes from Brenda Scholl and Michele Bugbee to a 192.35-190.45 victory over visiting Arizona State, ranked 10th, in the Smith Spectrum.

The Aggies and Sun Devils now await the NCAA Regional April 6 at Tucson.Utah State was hoping to beat a score of 190.8 to improve its Regional Qualifying Score and move higher in the NCAA rankings, and the Aggies did just that Saturday, thanks to one of their best floor scores of the season, 48.65. Their best is 48.8. Natalie Cannon and Julie Ryan tied for first on floor with 9.8s; for Ryan, it was a second straight 9.8 since she had one on balance beam to also win that event. Those were the meet's highest scores. There was a three-way tie for vault with ASU's Chris Jantz and Aggies Kim Johnson and Bugbee all scoring 9.7s, and a two-way tie for bars, again at 9.7s, between Jantz and Scholl.
