Elizabeth Dole, the president of the American Red Cross, meets a Bedouin family in a tent at an International Red Cross refugee camp south of Safwan, Iraq, Thursday. Dole also turned over to Kuwait the first installment in a $1 million shipment of food, tents and other relief supplies. The former U.S. labor and transportation secretary said a second planeload of supplies would be sent to Kuwait in about two weeks as part of a joint effort by the Red Cross, World Vision, Operation U.S.A. and American Near East Refugee Aid.
