The hotel used for filming external shots of the popular British comedy series "Fawlty Towers," which has been distributed worldwide, has been gutted by fire.

The 40-bedroom hotel, which was reduced to a shell by a blaze last week, became a tourist attraction after it was used in the filming of the series, in which comedian John Cleese played the part of an accident-prone hotel manager.The 40-bedroom hotel in Buckinghamshire, west of London, had been empty for three years.
