President Bush plans to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Toshiki Kaifu in Los Angeles, April 4, the White House announced Friday.

The session with the prime minister, intended as a show of support and gratitude for Japan's financial contributions to the Persian Gulf war, will take place at the start of a five-day trip that will take Bush to Houston and Dallas, according to officials. Bush had a similar one-on-one meeting with Kaifu last March 2-3, in Palm Springs, Calif.The trip also begins a day after Bush returns from a quick fishing vacation in Islamorada, Fla., April 3.
