A South Jordan man has been ordered to pay a $500 fine and stop working as a contractor until he obtains a state license, an order said.
Frank E. Reedy III was accused last summer by the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing of contracting without a license. The order said Reedy advertised himself as a contractor in roofing and cement work under Reedy Concrete and Roof Tech of Utah. In one instance, the order said, Reedy didn't honor a contract with a customer by not refunding 95 percent of a downpayment for a roof repair that was later canceled.
Reedy has been on probation twice before on felony theft charges and was sentenced last November to one year in the Salt Lake County Jail on a class A misdemeanor charge of contracting without a license.
The theft charges stem from his failing to complete five separate roofing jobs for which he had received down payments, the division said.
