U.S. Assistant Attorney General Jimmy Gurule, a native Utahn who has become an authority on gang violence, will speak to more than 450 minority high school students and their parents Saturday, March 23.

The Minority Parent/Student Conference is sponsored by the Educational Equity Section of the Utah State Office of Education.Gurule will speak during a noon luncheon in the University of Utah's Olpin Student Union ballroom. A graduate of Murray High, Gurule was appointed to the U.S. attorney's staff by President Bush. He is the first Hispanic assistant attorney in U.S. history.
