Glen James Nielson, 85, of Ephraim, died March 15, 1991 in the home where he was born and spent most of his life.

He was born March 22, 1905 to Louis B. W. and Anne Caroline Anderson Nielson. Married Virginia Kirkman February 8, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Marriage performed by Apostle Melvin J. Ballard. Fulfilled a mission in the Eastern States, for the LDS Church, from 1927-1930. Served in the bishopbric, and bishop for a total of 18 years in the former Ephraim West Ward, now Ephraim 1st Ward. He was called as Patriarch of the Ephraim Utah (South Sanpete) Stake for 36 years. He attended Ephraim schools, and went to Snow College where he participated in track and field events, and drama. He was instrumental in the early establishment of the Turkey Charolais and Rambouellet businesses. Served on the Ephraim City Council, and was president of the Six County Senior Citizens organization. He was a favorite public speaker, a successful gardener, and delighted in his family and grandchildren.Survived by his wife, Virginia; four daughters and one son, Mrs. Clyde (Catherine) Russell, Santa Rosa, California; Larry G. Nielson, North Hollywood, California; Mrs. Steven (Barbara) Mordecai, Fremont, California; Mrs. James (Marilyn) Edwards, Havre, Montana; Mrs. Carvel (Margaret) Allen, Ephraim; 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dail Nielson, Provo; Averl B. Nielson, Berlingame, California.

Funeral services Monday at 12 noon in the Ephraim 1st and 5th LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call Sunday, 6-7 p.m. and Monday, 10-11:30 a.m. Interment, Ephraim Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests contributions to the Ephraim 1st Ward Mission Fund. Funeral Directors, Buchannan Mortuary.
