Our beloved sister, aunt, stepmother and friend Lillian Yates Whitaker, age 90 passed away March 12, 1991 at Care West Nursing Facility, Bountiful, Utah from a lingering illness complicated by a diabetic condition.

She was born June 22, 1900, Lake Point, Tooele County, Utah to Joseph Yates Jr. and Nellie Garrard Yates. She was the oldest of seven children in her family. Lillian married Herman E. Whitaker, in the Los Angeles LDS Temple, February 2, 1962.She is survived by brother, Harvey E. Yates and sister, Lucy Hollie, Bountiful. Lillian has eight step children, the oldest, Willard Whitaker, passed away October 1990. The other seven include, Erma Sorenson, Bernice Sorenson, Charles Whitaker and Kent Whitaker, Fallon, Nevada; Nora Price, Kanosh; Evelyn Frampton, Fillmore; and Max Whitaker, West Valley City; 46 grandchildren; 210 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren with six great-great-grandchildren expected this year for a total of 300. She was preceded in death by three brothers, George Yates, Nephi Yates, and James Yates, and sister, Daisy Hayes.

Lillian has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all her life, having served as a teacher in the Sunday School, Relief Society and Primary organizations. She served as a pianist and organist and had a great love of music, sewing and crochet.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March l6 at 12 noon in the Bountiful 21st Ward, 650 South 200 East, Bountiful. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and at the church Saturday, 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Bountiful City Cemetery.
