To the editor:
The State Division of Aging received a nice increase in funding from the Legislature this year, and since then, we have been busy thanking our legislators and advocacy groups for their work in getting it. I would like to add one individual and her organization to our list of people who deserve credit: Lois Collins and the Deseret News. You ran a number of articles and editorials that illustrated the plight of the elderly and other recipients of state human services, and Collins was prominent in your reporting.
It is to your credit that you recognized quite early the growing neglect of elderly residents of this state; your journalism helped change it, and now we can serve most of those whom we encounter who are in critical need of support.
