Utah Highway Patrol officers apprehended a man wanted for child rape Saturday night when they stopped to check on a car at 13000 South and I-15.

Trooper Lee Perry said he pulled up to see why a car was parked by the freeway when he spotted beer cans around the car. A brief inspection of the interior revealed open beer containers, he said, so he ran checks on all seven passengers. One of the passengers was Ricardo Resendiz Rosas, 24. The check showed an outstanding warrant for Rosas from Summit County dated March 14 for rape of a child, according to Perry.Rosas was immediately extradited to Summit County.
