KRSP (AM-1060), "Utah's oldies radio station," has been selected to broadcast live coverage of the Salt Lake Golden Eagles during the regular season and all playoff games for the upcoming (1988-89) season.
The Golden Eagles have won the International Hockey League Championship for the past two seasons. This year's first game - against Kalamazoo - will be Oct. 11.Mike Barack, known for his colorful and accurate hockey commentary, will be returning as the play-by-play announcer.
"We're excited about this promotional marriage between KRSP 1060 AM and the Golden Eagles, and we look forward to a long-lasting relationship with the new voice of the Golden Eagles," Mike Runge, general manager of the Salt Lake Golden Eagles, said.
* KTKK (AM-630) - Joe Redburn, a Salt Lake talk show host from 1965-77, has returned to Utah to host the station's morning program.
He previously was a talk show host on Denver's KMDK radio.
* KUER (FM-90) and the State Arboretum will wrap up their Red Butte Gardens Summer Concert series Sunday at 4 p.m. with hot jazz and vocals by Copeland/Booth and Company.
* KSL (AM-1160) will air the Pittsburgh Pirates at Houston Astros game 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
"Sportscentral" with Chris Tunis will feature Deseret News Sports Editor Lee Benson Monday at 6:30 p.m., while Tuesday's show will examine the idea of a new sports arena in Salt Lake.
Wednesday's "Sportscentral" show will update BYU sports, and Thursday's program will interview Utah running back Eddie Johnson.
The BYU-Wyoming game will air 7:50 p.m. Thursday. SUSC football coach Jack Bishop will be Tunis' guest Friday at 6:30 p.m.
