Country music signer Lee Greenwood is getting plenty of requests to perform his hit "God Bless the USA" these days and the repetition doesn't bother him one bit.

"I'm just proud to have done something useful to American history, particularly at a time when people are dying," Greenwood said before going on stage Friday at a patriotic rally in Evansville, Ind.The rally, at least the fifth one Greenwood has performed at since the gulf war ended, drew hundreds to Vanderburgh Auditorium for a flag-waving, teary-eyed time.

Greenwood wrote "God Bless the USA" in September 1983 and it went to the top of the charts the following summer.
